ANCOP WALK 2011 @ the CAPITAL Region - Ottawa

It was different from the past years. Volunteers and walkers were not drenching! This year’s ANCOP WALK was blessed with a bright and sunny day. Early set-up went smooth and perfect as walk-in registrants and already registered walkers started to arrive one after the other.

The event was opened by ANCOP Coordinator in Ottawa, Manny Beloy and followed by CDA (Philippine Charge d’ Affaires) to Canada, Minerva Jean A. Falcon with her inspiring remarks. Hip and hype exercise headed by Mic Lomocso gave the walkers a good warm up before hitting the start of the 5km line.

We had a good number of registered walkers this year, however not all came to the walk due to inevitable circumstances. Despite the absence of other ANCOP WALK supporters, it still felt good to see new faces. New faces mean new supporters ... meaning more armies to battle this war against poverty.

Charity work is never easy but if we have the heart and the sense of care and sincerity to our needy brethren then this work becomes a passion; the feeling of hardship will transform into a feeling of joy and fulfillment. It has always been a goal for Ottawa volunteers to campaign for ANCOP and to increase awareness in the capital city and this will remain an objective until we feel that the whole community is supporting the works of ANCOP.

Thank you and congratulations to all the volunteers and supporters of ANCOP WALK 2011 in Ottawa, indeed we will be able to provide shelters again to the homeless and education to poor children.
