2011 ANCOP Walk in Winnipeg raises $36,000 for the poor
The annual ANCOP Walk (Answering the Cry of the Poor) was held on August 20, 2011 at Assiniboine Park beneath a sunny sky that drew a sizeable group of participants comprised of members of Couples for Christ (CFC), their friends, special guests, and donors.
Started eight years ago in Canada and in 2010 in the United States, the annual event aims to raise awareness and funds for CFC's work for the poor through shelter and child programs that help lift the poor in Third World countries by providing decent dwelling, education and hope for those living in extreme poverty.
The successful and highly spirited staging of the 2011 ANCOP Walk raised $36,000 which could have not been possible without the support of other organizations, advocates, and major sponsors namely, Mr. Larry Vickar of Vickar Automobile Group, Mr. James Kurz of Scotia Bank, Dr. Tom Colina of Pearl Family Dental Care and Ellice Dental Group.
Also known as ANCOP Global Walk 2011, the event was a confirmation of the heart and commitment of CFC members and adherents to live the cause of bringing Christ's transforming love for the poor, the One who walked on this earth whose sole purpose was to reach out.
Mr. Larry Vickar of Vickar Automotive Group showed his unwavering support to this noble cause by donating $15,000.00 for the building of a multipurpose hall in Camiguin Island in Mindanao, Philippines.
